Telangana assembly elections

Terming Opposition leaders G Kishan Reddy and A Revanth Reddy “political pygmies”, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said that they did not have the stature to fight his father K Chandrashekar Rao, who risked his life to get statehood for Telangana.

He pointed out that current Telangana BJP chief Kishan Reddy fled when asked to resign during the Telangana movement, and his Congress counterpart Revanth Reddy was a thief who was caught red-handed in the vote-for-notes case.

Addressing gatherings at the Shadnagar, Raviryal, Vikarabad, and Kukatpally constituencies after taking part in various development works on Thursday, 5 October, KTR said: “The people of Telangana don’t need parties who sell seats and buy votes. The Congress will win in 10 places and then Revanth Reddy will take these MLAs and make them join BJP after the election,” he said.

KTR also said that the Congress in Telangana was functioning under “RSS leader” Revanth Reddy.

Former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh had written a letter to Sonia Gandhi asking why an RSS leader was made the party’s chief in Telangana, he said.

KTR taunts Congress

KTR said that it was ironic that Congress leaders pointed out that the power supply was not available round the clock, making all sectors suffer due to the erratic power supply when they were in power.

He said that industries were no longer giving power holidays and people were not suffering power outages. “Congress leaders like Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said that he would resign if we prove power was being provided 24 hours in the state. We will arrange buses for all the Congress leaders. Let them come, hold power cables, and check for themselves,” KTR said.

“Revanth Reddy is a leader who said a three-hour power supply was sufficient for the farmers in our state,” he further stated.

KTR asked the people to recall the Congress days when farmers were deprived of many benefits, apart from power and water problems, and inadequate supply of seeds and fertilisers.

He also said that people’s representatives feared venturing into villages during summers when the Congress was in power since people protested on roads with empty pots, demanding drinking water.

“The BJP says the BRS is the Congress’ B-team and the Congress says the BRS is the BJP’s B-team. But these people should realise that the BRS is the A-team of the people of Telangana,” he said.

He added that the BJP was bringing money from Adani and the Congress was bringing money from Karnataka to defeat Chief Minister KCR in Telangana. “Take that money but vote for the BRS,” he said.
