Mangaluru police arrested 14 persons, including right wing outfit Rama Sene president Prasad Attavar, on Thursday, 23 January for allegedly vandalising a unisex salon and assaulting its staff.
The accused reportedly stormed into Colors unisex salon at Aditya Complex near the Bejai KSRTC bus stand around 11.50 am. They accused the salon staff of engaging in “immoral activities”, verbally abused them, vandalised the premises, and assaulted two employees.

The Barke police registered an FIR based on salon owner Sudheer Shetty’s complaint under Sections 329(2) (house-trespass), 324(5) (mischief causing damage), 74 (assault to outrage a woman’s modesty), 351(3) (punishment for criminal intimidation), 115(2) (abetment of serious offences), 109 (punishment for abetment of committed acts), 352 (assault or criminal force without provocation), and 190 (punishment for public nuisance) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The arrested persons are Harshraj alias Harshit, Mohan Das alias Ravi, Purandara, Sachin, Ravish, Suketh, Ankit, Kali Muttu, Abhilash, Deepak, Vignesh, Sharan Raj, Pradeep Poojari, and Prasad Attavar.
Seven of the accused hail from Vamanjoor area of Mangaluru, while others come from various parts of Mangaluru, Bantwal taluk, Kasaragod, and Gokarna, police confirmed. One of the accused, Sharan Raj, reportedly filmed the incident.
The investigation is underway and further details are awaited.
