Nine workers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) were found guilty by the Thrissur III Additional Sessions Court on Thursday, 29 May, in connection with the 2010 murder of DYFI activist CT Biju in Kumbalangad. The court is scheduled to pronounce the sentence on Friday.
Biju was brutally attacked and killed on 16 May, 2010, in front of the local library, allegedly due to political rivalry. A friend accompanying him was also injured in the attack and later turned into the case’s first witness.
The convicted individuals include Jayesh, Sumesh, Sebastian, Johnson, Biju, Sajeesh, Suneesh, and Sanish. The sixth accused, Ravi, passed away during the course of the trial.

The case was investigated by then Wadakkanchery Sub-Inspector Sinoj, and the prosecution was represented by Advocate KD Babu. A total of 30 witnesses were examined during the trial.
The case had long remained a point of contention between rival political groups in the region, symbolising the deep-rooted tensions between cadre-based outfits in Kerala.
