Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Sunday, 9 April, took to Twitter to nail Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the latter’s broadside against Telangana and family rule.

Taking to Twitter, the BRS working president said Modi was not able to admit that Telangana stood first in being the best-performing state for political reasons.

He said that Modi came to Hyderabad only to politicise issues in favour of his party.  He said it was unfortunate that Modi could not pay even one compliment at a time when Telangana state was winning accolades from various countries.

He also dared Modi to point out one state in the country that had achieved as much progress as Telangana did.

‘Telangana stands first’

The minister said that Telangana stood head and shoulders above all others in per capita income and was the first state to provide piped drinking water to every home.

The state has become ODF plus 100 percent which was achieved by following the best rural development model the state followed.

The BRS leader said that it stood in the forefront in various sectors. It is leading other states in the creation of employment in the IT sector, stands at third position in ease of doing business, improvement of green cover by 7.7 percent, and in occupying second position in bagging the maximum number of awards from the Centre.

The minister also said Telangana was the fourth major contributor to the nation’s GDP and that it had the best industrial policy, the largest ever textile park, and a flourishing vaccine hub.

KTR said that Telangana is in second position in the production of paddy and recalled the construction of Kaleshwaram, the world’s largest lift irrigation scheme, being the second largest renewable energy producer in India and becoming the lowest debt-GSDP ratio.

He also said Hyderabad happens to be the best Indian city as adjudged by Mercer for five years in a row. He also said the state had the lowest corruption as per the CSDS survey.

Sibal takes a dig

Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Sunday accused the BJP of indulging in “politics of convenience”, as he hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his remarks on dynasty in Telangana and cited past instances of the party aligning with dynastic political families in various states.

In a tweet, Sibal said, “PM Takes swipe at KCR: Says corruption and dynasty go hand in hand. Why did BJP join: 1) Punjab (Akalis) 2) Andhra (Jagan) 3) Haryana (Chautalas) 4) J&K (Muftis) 5) Maharashtra (Thackerays)…Not dynasties when BJP joined them!”

“It’s called politics of convenience!” the former Union minister said.

In another tweet, Sibal said, “PM: Takes a swipe at KCR, says dynasty and corruption go hand in hand. BJP makes allegations of corruption against AAP.
No dynasty there. Need not be dynasty to allege corruption.”

“You say BJP not dynasty. Is BJP corrupt?” he said.
