Haath-se-Haath Jodo Yatra Revanth Reddy

Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy, on Monday, 22 May, sought to give back in equal measure to his detractors in the party, saying that there were “no coverts” in the party.

Speaking at a wide-ranging meeting of the party at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad, he said: “There are no coverts in the party. No groups. No one has any difference of opinion with anyone. I am ready to climb down even 10 steps to protect and promote the party’s interests.”

‘Should work hand in hand’

The tone and tenor of Revanth’s exhortation to the leaders in the party on Monday to work hand in hand to bring back the pristine glory of the Congress indicated that he would be more accommodative in the future and expected the same response from others.

He said it was time for all of them to work together as the prospects of Congress were looking bright.

“The Congress won in Karnataka, decimating the BJP and its religious bigotry. The mantra that worked in Karnataka in favour of the Congress was that the party presented a picture that it was an organic whole and that it was not a divided house anymore. If we emulate Karnataka, winning the Assembly elections later this year is not difficult,” he said.

He said one should be wary of the highly divisive and polarising Hindutva policies of the BJP as it was trying to use it to drive a wedge among various religions all over the country.

To prevent this catastrophe, Rahul Gandhi had undertaken the Bharat Jodo Yatra which had yielded handsome dividends in the form of an increase in trust of the people in the party’s credentials and leadership, he added.

‘Necessary to expose BJP’

Revanth Reddy said that it was necessary for the Congress to expose how the BJP was trying to undermine the public sector undertakings and how it had handed over on a platter the country’s wealth to Ambanis and Adanis.

Rahul Gandhi was on the side of the poor, voicing their cries for help, he added.

The TPCC chief said that the youth defloration that Priyanka Gandhi had unveiled recently in Hyderabad for the youth of Telangana should be taken into the midst of the youth and the students.

Similarly, the party workers and leaders should take part enthusiastically in the Telangana Formation Day celebration on 2 June as it was the Congress that had gifted statehood to the people he said adding that there should be celebrations at the district, Mandal, and village levels.
