Bharti Airtel Group to invest ₹2,000 crore in Telangana through its data centre arm

The facility will be a Hyperscale Data Centre with a capacity of 60 megawatts (MW) of IT load in the first phase. It will incorporate the latest technologies in cooling and security. The project is estimated to be deployed in the next five to seven years.

KT Rama Rao said in a statement that Hyderabad is now the hub for Hyperscale Data Centres in India and Airtel’s investment “adds to the pace we look to keep up”.

“I hope to continue this relationship and hope the state can work together with Airtel-Nxtra on creating digital infrastructure to keep up with the ever-growing industry in the state,” said KTR.

Sunil Bharti Mittal, in a statement, said the proposed centre would one of their biggest greenfield data centre projects in India.

“Since the initiation of our discussions on the data centre project in the May 2022 edition of the WEF Annual Meeting, the government has worked at a very quick pace to ensure the project can (begin) construction in the matter of a few months. We will work closely with Telangana to increase our footprint in the state in other portfolios of our business as well,” he added.

Eurofins expands presence in Indian pharmaceutical

Meanwhile, Eurofins Scientific, a French group into food, environment, pharmaceutical and cosmetic product testing and bioanalytical testing, has announced plans to establish a fully-equipped, state-of-the-art laboratory campus in Genome Valley, Hyderabad.

It will be a facility capable of supporting large global and Indian pharmaceutical clients as well as small biotech companies in the areas of synthetic organic chemistry, bioanalytical services (for both large and small molecules), in-vivo pharmacology, safety toxicology and formulation R&D.

The announcement was made after Minister KT Rama Rao’s meeting with Eurofins management at the WEF.

With this investment through its subsidiary, Eurofins Advinus, the Eurofins network now has a significant campus in Hyderabad that complements its existing operations in India with additional capacity in discovery chemistry, analytical chemistry and bioanalytical services.

The investment will also allow Eurofins Advinus to extend its service offering to deliver formulation development as well as in-vitro and in-vivo biology capabilities from early 2023.
