The Living Lab project aims to develop localized, community-driven solutions for disaster mitigation.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday inaugurated a Resilience Centre at Kanichar panchayat in Kannur district, marking a major step in Kerala’s disaster preparedness efforts.
The centre has been established as part of the Living Lab project, the first of its kind in India, being implemented by the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA).
The Living Lab project aims to develop localised, community-driven solutions for disaster mitigation and resilience building in vulnerable regions.
The new Resilience Centre will function as a hub for awareness programmes, preparedness training, and real-time disaster response planning in the panchayat.
Later in the day, the chief minister also distributed laptops to children affected by the Mundakai–Churalmala disaster at the Thycaud Government Guest House in Thiruvananthapuram.
A total of 250 laptops will be provided by utilising ₹1 crore from the CSR fund, as part of the government’s continued support for disaster-affected families.
