The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Wednesday, 9 July, announced the successful completion of two hot tests of the Gaganyaan Service Module Propulsion System (SMPS), lasting 30 and 100 seconds, respectively.
Conducted by the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), the tests validated the performance of the Liquid Apogee Motor (LAM) and Reaction Control System (RCS) thrusters, which are crucial for orbital manoeuvres and abort scenarios.
ISRO confirmed all parameters were normal and as expected. As Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla trains aboard the ISS under the Axiom-4 mission, ISRO aims to launch Gaganyaan, India’s first manned mission, by March 2027.
