Popular film reviewer Aswanth Kok is facing fresh police action after authorities found that the driving licence he produced following a drunken driving accident had expired in February 2025.
Kok was taken into custody on 28 September, after his car allegedly hit multiple vehicles near Eranhippalam junction in Kozhikode.
Local residents stopped the vehicle and alerted the police after noticing that the driver appeared to be intoxicated.
Police said he was booked for drunk driving and rash driving, among other offences and was later released on station bail.
Police said Kok initially claimed he did not have his licence with him and was later asked to produce it.
A check found that the licence, issued in 2005, had expired over a year ago. Nadakkavu police are expected to register a separate case for driving without a valid licence.
Two liquor bottles, an air gun and pellets were also recovered from the vehicle. Kok later admitted his mistake in a YouTube video and said he would not drive after consuming alcohol again.
