Synopsis: The Student Federation of India has sought legal action against former Kerala BJP spokesperson and RSS ideologue TG Mohandas after he said he would have had student protesters at Jantar Mantar shot in a video published on his YouTube channel. The BJP defended Mohandas’ “right to speak” and said he was a free thinker, but maintained that the party cannot be held responsible for his statements.
The Student Federation of India (SF) has sought legal action against former Kerala BJP spokesperson and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideologue TG Mohandas for promoting violence and derogatory language in a video published on his YouTube channel.
The complaint, submitted via email to the Kerala Home Minister and the DGP, alleged that Mohandas called for students protesting peacefully at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi against former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to be shot dead.
The Home Department has entrusted the investigation to Cyber Cell IG P Prakash, with Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala directing the team to complete the probe expeditiously and submit a report at the earliest.
In a video uploaded on 26 July on his YouTube channel Pathrika, Mohandas said that, if he were in power, he would have brought the situation “under control within four hours” by imposing a curfew around Jantar Mantar and opening fire after issuing three warnings for the crowd to disperse.
“I would impose curfew over about a 4-square-kilometre area around Jantar Mantar. I would announce over loudspeakers, asking the crowd to disperse. I would make the announcement three times. Then I would open fire. People would scatter and run. Some people would die, some would survive, and some would be left permanently disabled. Within about four hours, the situation would be under control. The bodies would be collected and taken to hospitals. A lot of things would happen. This is a solution. Clean,” he said.

BJP Kerala General Secretary Dr J Pramila Devi told South First that Mohandas is a “free thinker” who has every right to express his opinions, but maintained that the BJP does not endorse his statements.
”He has every right to express his opinion. He is not the official mouthpiece of either the RSS or the BJP. He is a free thinker and can say whatever he wants, but the BJP will not endorse his statements. The party has official spokespersons and I myself am not a spokesperson. Everyone should be careful about the words they use. The BJP cannot be held responsible for his statements.” she said.
Former BJP spokesperson Sandeep Vachaspati said that though Mohandas had previously served as an official BJP spokesperson and participated on its behalf in television debates, he no longer holds any role in the party.
RSS Kottayam unit chief Sanu likewise said that Mohandas does not hold any official position or responsibility within the Sangh.
