Residents of Ayiroor near Varkala in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram district are up in arms against a police circle inspector following an act of ‘unnatural’ police excess against a 27-year-old POCSO case accused.

After the uproar, the local police registered a case against an under-suspension inspector, Jaisanil, for allegedly subjecting the POCSO case accused to unnatural sex.

According to the first information report, the inspector took the detained youth to his official quarters and used him to satisfy his libido for 24 hours.

Though the youth was detained on 18 November, his arrested was recorded only the next day. It has been alleged that the charge sheet in the POCSO case was prepared in a hurry, and submitted to a local court in three days.

Interestingly, even as the hue and cry was going on, the police department placed inspector Jaisanil under suspension in a bribery case. He is reportedly on the run after the case was registered against him.

Activists of the Congress-led UDF marched to the station on Thursday,15 December, demanding his immediate arrest.

Thiruvananthapuram rural district police chief D Shilpa said an investigation has been launched and the truth would soon be revealed.

Youth informs court of abuse

The incident came to light when the POCSO case accused told the court about the sexual exploitation. He said the inspector had taken him to his quarters instead of the police station.

The youth also alleged that the inspector demanded ₹1,35,000 as bribe to let him off the hook. The court was hearing his bail petition.

The POCSO case accused claimed that the inspector charge-sheeted him despite receiving ₹50,000. The officer allegedly threatened the accused that his photograph would be released to the media if he did not cooperate with him.

Jaisanil was suspended in an earlier case for implicating a person in a false case after the latter had turned down the officer’s demand for a bribe.

The youth is now out on bail. He has been accused of sexually abusing a minor girl.

After his act was reported, the youth went to the Middle East to evade arrest. Investigating officer Jaisanil brought him back promising no action would be initiated against him.

Recently, a circle inspector in Wayanad was suspended from service, pending investigation, for sexually abusing a POCSO victim while taking her around to collect evidence.

Another circle inspector was arrested at Beypore near Kozhikode for sexually abusing a woman who had approached him with a complaint against her estranged husband.
