A woman was killed, and at least six others were injured after a car allegedly went out of control and crashed into multiple vehicles and pedestrians near Kowdiar Junction in Thiruvananthapuram of Kerala on the morning of Friday, 8 May.
The accident occurred around 10.30 am when the car, travelling from Kuravankonam Junction, veered across the road and slammed into two scooters, another car and pedestrians standing on the opposite side, according to police and eyewitnesses.
Police said the driver, who was alone in the vehicle, is suspected of having lost control after experiencing a sudden fluctuation in blood pressure. He was shifted to SUT Hospital and is undergoing treatment. His identity has not yet been confirmed.
The woman, who was riding a scooter, suffered severe injuries in the impact.
She was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Police said her identity is yet to be established, and further procedures, including an inquest and a postmortem examination, are pending.
At least six others sustained injuries in the pile-up and were admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The accident briefly disrupted traffic in the busy Kowdiar stretch before police removed the damaged vehicles and restored traffic flow.
