Synopsis: Following another alleged assault, the woman approached the Kottayam police. She is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Police registered a case based on her complaint and preliminary information and subsequently arrested the accused.
Kottayam police have arrested a young man on allegations that he secretly recorded his wife’s private moments and sold the videos to pornographic websites.
A POCSO case has also been registered against the accused based on the statement of their four-year-old daughter during counselling.
The couple, who had been living in the UK for several years for work, returned to Keralam on 14 August.
According to the woman’s complaint, her husband had been recording their private moments on his mobile phone without her consent while they were abroad and allegedly selling the footage through pornographic websites.
She also alleged that he had installed a hidden camera in the bathroom. The woman said she confronted her husband after learning about the recordings, leading to frequent quarrels and physical assaults.
She further alleged that he pressured her to have relationships with other men and assaulted her when she refused.
The couple had been in a relationship for nearly 10 years before getting married.
According to the complaint, the woman’s husband was addicted to pornographic content and had repeatedly subjected her to unwanted sexual behaviour.
After returning to Keralam, the couple underwent counselling in an attempt to resolve their differences. However, the woman alleged that the abuse and assaults continued.
She eventually left the house and sought refuge with a friend before returning, hoping that counselling would bring about a change.
The woman told the police that her husband had indicated during counselling that he was not interested in family life and wanted to live independently.
She also alleged that he continued to record and circulate her private moments despite her objections.

During counselling, their four-year-old daughter reportedly gave a statement against her father, following which the POCSO provision was added to the case. The allegation is that he pressurized his wife to have sexual act in front of their daughter.
The investigation is under way.
