The Kerala government revised the Medisep health insurance scheme for state employees and pensioners, increasing coverage for major surgeries.
Beneficiaries can now claim up to ₹18 lakh for liver transplants, ₹17 lakh for bone marrow or stem cell transplants, ₹15 lakh for heart transplants, ₹20 lakh for heart-lung transplants, ₹6.5 lakh for cochlear implants, and ₹3 lakh for kidney transplants.
The cabinet also renewed the scheme, which had expired.
The new term will be two years with a basic coverage of ₹5 lakh, while higher amounts will be sanctioned for critical illnesses. Premiums, currently set at ₹750, will be paid by all employees and pensioners and may be revised after talks with the insurer.
Both government and private hospitals will be included. Emergency care at non-empanelled hospitals, such as for heart attacks, strokes, burns, drowning, snake bites, and similar cases, will also be reimbursed.
