Synopsis: Kerala DGP Sheikh Darvesh Sahib has recommended civil and criminal action against ADGP MR Ajith Kumar for allegedly making false claims implicating ADGP P Vijayan in the Karipur gold smuggling case. Vijayan, backed by SP Sujith Das’s denial, filed a complaint. Linked to past allegations by ex-MLA PV Anvar, the case awaits the state government’s decision.
Kerala State Police Chief Sheikh Darvesh Sahib is learnt to have recommended that both civil and criminal cases be filed against ADGP MR Ajith Kumar for allegedly making a defamatory false statement implicating ADGP P Vijayan in the Karipur gold smuggling case.
The recommendation, it’s said, follows a complaint lodged by Vijayan, who heads the state intelligence wing, accusing Ajith Kumar of falsely claiming that Malappuram SP Sujith Das had informed him about Vijayan’s alleged involvement in the case.
Sujith Das, however, publicly refuted the claim, stating he had made no such remark. Based on this, Vijayan wrote to the state police chief demanding action, who in turn, forwarded his complaint to the state government.
It’s learnt that DGP Sheikh Darvesh Sahib conducted an inquiry and subsequently recommended legal proceedings against Ajith Kumar.
However, the state government is yet to take a decision on the DGP’s recommendation.
The controversy is linked to a case raised by then MLA PV Anvar regarding gold smuggling through Karipur airport.
In a series of explosive allegations, Anvar accused Ajith Kumar of criminal ties and misconduct. Anvar described Ajith Kumar as a notorious criminal with connections to underworld terrorist Dawood Ibrahim.
PV Anwar also linked the alleged gold smuggling connection of Ajith Kumar to the murder of Malappuram native Ridan Basil.
