Synopsis: A Kerala man allegedly hacked his wife to death in front of their daughter in the Palakkad district of Kerala. Police said the husband later died by suicide after allegedly inflicting injuries on himself.
A Kerala man on Saturday, 27 June, allegedly hacked his wife to death in front of their daughter in the Palakkad district of Kerala.
Deepa (38) was allegedly hacked to death by her husband, Sukumaran (43), at their home in Aryampavu on Saturday night.
Police said the couple’s 16-year-old daughter witnessed the attack after Sukumaran, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, picked a fight with his wife.

Although neighbours rushed Deepa to a hospital in Mannarkad, she succumbed to the injuries. Police said Sukumaran later died by suicide after allegedly inflicting injuries on himself.
The incident comes weeks after a similar case in Thiruvananthapuram, where a man allegedly killed his wife following a domestic dispute.
On 3 June, 36-year-old Haseena was brutally murdered by her husband, Suresh, in front of their four children at a rented house in Nalanchira in the Thiruvananthapuram district.
The horrifying crime unfolded in the presence of the couple’s four children. The family’s eldest daughter reportedly alerted the Mannanthala Police Station, following which police rushed to the scene.
Later, on 6 June, Suresh, who had escaped, was found dead on a railway track in Chidambaram in Tamil Nadu.
