The State Election Commission has announced that the draft voters’ list for the upcoming local body elections will be published on July 23, with the final list scheduled for release on August 30.

Applications and objections related to the draft can be submitted online until August 7.

Those who turn 18 on or before January 1, 2025, are eligible to enroll.

State Election Commissioner A. Shahjahan shared these details during a meeting with political party representatives in Thiruvananthapuram on July 19.

The meeting, held at Muscat Hotel, discussed preparations for the 2025 elections in local bodies.

First Level Checking (FLC) of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be conducted from July 25 to August 25, covering machines to be used in gram panchayats, block and district panchayats, municipalities, and corporations.

This year’s elections will be held in 941 gram panchayats, 152 block panchayats, 14 district panchayats, 86 municipalities, and six corporations, excluding Mattanur Municipality in Kannur, whose term ends in 2027.

Representatives from major political parties and Commission officials, including Secretary B.S. Prakash, attended the meeting.

The Commissioner urged political parties to cooperate in ensuring an accurate voters’ list and smooth election process.
