Priyanka Gandhi will join her mother Sonia and brother Rahul on the Bharat Jodo Yatra on 7 October after a brief get-together in Kodagu.
The Bharat Jodo Yatra is expected to take a two-day break with a brief family get-together time at a resort in Kodagu (Madikeri) on Tuesday and Wednesday for the Gandhi family.
The Congress’ interim chief Sonia Gandhi arrived at the Mysuru airport on the afternoon of Monday, 3 October.
She had not participated in any public rallies over quite a long period due to her health reasons.
Sonia will head from the Mercara Downs Golf Club helipad by road towards Kodagu where Rahul Gandhi is expected to join her for the next two days.
All the action involving the Congress is expected to shift to Karnataka for the next three days.
Other than the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the AICC presidential election has been cresting the buzz in the Congress.
While Shahi Tharoor was in Telangana on Monday campaigning for the polls, Mallikarjun Kharge — the other contender — is returning to Karnataka.
They will a brief time with their families for two days as the Bharat Jodo Yatra takes a break.
“Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will join the leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra on Friday, as it enters the Mandya district in the state,” Senior Congress leader Ramalinga Reddy told South First.
The yatra entered Karnataka on Saturday from Kerala, and had finished its leg in two districts — Chamarajanagar and Mysuru.
After Rahul’s visit to the Khadi Centre in Badavanalu, where he paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on Gandhi Jayanti on Sunday, he, along with KPCC president DK Shivakumar, Karnataka Assembly Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah, and KPCC campaign committee president MB Patil, visited the Chamundeshwari temple and took the blessings of the deity.
Then he and the leaders visited the Suttur mutt and took the blessings of the senior pontiff.
The same day, Rahul and the Congress leaders visited the popular St Philomena’s Church and the renowned Masjid-e-Azam mosque in Mysuru.
They continued with the yatra’s leg towards Melkote and Pandavapura in the Mysuru district, heading towards Mandya.
