Six Revenue officials among 10 arrested over alleged ₹100-crore Bengaluru land grab
The accused allegedly fabricated land grant records, a fake family tree, a death certificate and other documents to fraudulently secure mutation of the land in the name of one of the accused.
Synopsis: The Bengaluru City Police have arrested 10 people, including six Revenue Department officials, for allegedly forging government records to grab six acres of land worth more than ₹100 crore belonging to the Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust in Kambipura village. Police alleged that the accused fabricated land grant records, a fake family tree, a death certificate to facilitate the fraud.
The Bengaluru City Police have arrested 10 people, including six officials of the Revenue Department, for allegedly forging government records to usurp six acres of land worth more than ₹100 crore belonging to the Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust in Kambipura village of Kengeri Hobli.
The arrests follow an FIR registered at the Kumbalgodu Police Station on 10 June based on a complaint by the Trust’s secretary.
The police identified those arrested as Francis Arogyaswamy, Srinivasu, Narendrakumar, Jospen, Deputy Tahsildars Deepak and MP Ravi, Revenue Inspectors Kiran Kumar and Arun Kumar, and Village Administrative Officers Shivaprasad and Satish Kumar.
The accused allegedly fabricated land grant records, a fake family tree, a death certificate and other documents to fraudulently secure mutation of the land in the name of one of the accused. Investigators alleged that the accused falsely claimed inheritance from an ex-servicemen land grantee to facilitate the transfer.
The police said further investigation is under way. They added that additional suspects are absconding and that investigators are examining whether similar forged documents were used in other alleged attempts to grab land.
