The Indian government launched Operation Sindoor on the intervening night of 6 and 7 May, in response to the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on 22 April, which killed 25 Indian nationals and a Nepali citizen.
Criticising Pakistan, the chief minister said, “They should have tackled this issue of terrorism. Even when the entire world knew of it, they showed stubbornness by giving shelter to terrorism and terrorists in their country.”
Noting that the operation was in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, Siddaramaiah further calling out the neighbouring country said, “Pakistan has consistently failed to condemn terrorism or terrorists on international platforms. India has now taken decisive action, and we fully support this move. This operation serves as a strong warning to Pakistan.”
Declaring his government’s support to the Union government, the chief minister reiterated, “Both the government and the people of Karnataka salute the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force for their precision and bravery. We have also communicated our full support to the central government.”
He further announced that the public rally scheduled in Raichur on Wednesday, in protest of price hikes by Union government has been cancelled, “We thought it was not suitable and appropriate for us to conduct the rally against the Union government at this point in time. We thought it was apt for our government to stand in unity with the Union government.”
Siddaramaiah also noted that the state government is conducting mock drills in Mysuru, Bengaluru, Karwar and Raichur so that the state is completely under alert. “National security is very important to us and there is no compromise on it. If Pakistan attacks us, India will not hesitate to wage a war against them,” he added.
