Synopsis: Lokayukta police raided several locations across Karnataka, recovering Rs 38 crore in disproportionate assets held by 12 officials. The haul included Rs 24.34 crore in immovable assets, Rs 1.20 crore in cash, and jewellery. Key findings involved officials V Sumangala (Rs 7.32 crore), N Chandrashekar (Rs 5.14 crore), and N K Gangamarigowda (Rs 4.66 crore). Raids spanned capital Bengaluru and across various other districts.
The Lokayukta police on Tuesday, 14 October, recovered disproportionate assets (DA) worth Rs 38 crore allegedly held by 12 Karnataka government officials.
The recovery included Rs 24.34 crore in immovable assets, valuable movable assets such as jewellery, and Rs 1.20 crore in cash, reported The New Indian Express.
In one official’s residence in Bidar district, Rs 83.09 lakh in cash was discovered. Simultaneous raids were conducted at 48 locations linked to the accused officials across Bengaluru city, Bengaluru Rural, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Haveri, Bidar, Udupi, Bagalkot, and Hassan.
In Bengaluru, V Sumangala, Director of State School Education, Research and Training at Hosakerehalli, currently suspended, allegedly possessed Rs 7.32 crore in DA. This comprises Rs 5.08 crore in immovable assets, including four plots, five houses, and 19 acres of agricultural land, alongside Rs 2.24 crore in movable assets, including ornaments and Rs 96.73 lakh in shares.
N Chandrashekar, Assistant Director of Agriculture at Holalkere in Chitradurga district, allegedly held Rs 5.14 crore in DA. This includes Rs 4.02 crore in immovable assets, such as four plots, three houses, and 15 acres and 8 guntas of agricultural land, plus Rs 1.12 crore in movable assets, including Rs 60.39 lakh worth of ornaments.
N K Gangamarigowda, Surveyor at KIADB in Bengaluru Rural, allegedly possessed Rs 4.66 in DA, including Rs 3.58 crore in immovable assets comprising two plots and two houses, and Rs 1.08 crore in movable assets, including Rs 7.73 lakh in cash.
