The Economics Area at IIM Bangalore will host the second Symposium on Evidence of Economic Development (SEED) on June 28–29, 2025. The two-day event, to be held in Classroom P-22, will feature empirical research across behavioural economics, firm dynamics, and developmental outcomes.
Jointly curated by Prof. Pavel Chakraborty (Lancaster University), Prof. Anindya Chakrabarti (IIM Ahmedabad), and Prof. Ritwik Banerjee (IIMB), the symposium includes distinguished researchers from around the world.
Key presentations include topics such as gender gaps in science, market access, conflict resolution, bureaucrat assignments, cellphone markets, trade costs, and social identity in economic diversification. Day 2 will spotlight development themes including healthcare access, land inequality, cash transfers, and societal norms around intimate partner violence.
The symposium opens with an address by Prof. U. Dinesh Kumar, Dean of Faculty at IIMB. The first edition was held at IIM Ahmedabad.
