The Bajpe police have registered an FIR over an alleged conspiracy to carry out the murder of a Muslim man in retaliation for the killing of rowdy sheeter and Bajrang Dal member Suhas Shetty.
The FIR was registered based on the complaint of Abhishek (25) of Belthangady.
Abhishek told police that an acquaintance of his named Sudeep, whom he had known for over a year, had spoken about killing a Muslim man to avenge the murder of Shetty in May 2025. According to the FIR, Sudeep invited Abhishek to join the plan and offered a total of 24 lakh for carrying out the murder.
Sudeep also allegedly offered Rs 15,000 per month towards household expenses and groceries worth Rs 5,000 per month as compensation for the families if those involved in the proposed murder ends up in jail.
The FIR alleges that Sudeep subsequently sent Abhishek the photograph of an intended target, a person from Bajpe’s Kinnipadavu area. The photo was shared through WhatsApp, and Abhishek was asked to gather information about the person’s movements.
Abhishek told police that he and his friend Keerthan allegedly travelled there in a Scorpio and conducted reconnaissance. Sudeep allegedly transferred Rs 2,000 through UPI towards expenses and diesel.
Abhishek also stated that he had brought two swords from his house and kept them ready for the alleged attack.
He claimed that he backed out of the plan after his wife gave birth. He said he did not immediately approach the police out of fear of Sudeep, who allegedly has a criminal background. Abhishek told the police that his phone contained WhatsApp chats and screenshots relating to the alleged conspiracy.
The FIR was registered on September 23 under Sections 55 and 61(2)(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation has been handed over to the Central Crime Branch (CCB). No arrests have been made yet.
Suhas Shetty, a rowdy sheeter and accused in multiple murder cases, was allegedly hacked to death by seven people using swords and machetes near Kinnipadavu Cross in Mangaluru’s Bajpe area on 1 May 2025. The case is being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
