Synopsis: The BJP appointed Ram Madhav as the election in-charge and Satish Poonia and Sanjay Upadhyay as the election co-in-charge for the upcoming Greater Bengaluru Authority Corporation election in Karnataka.
BJP National President Nitin Nabin on Tuesday, 20 January, appointed Ram Madhav as the election in-charge and Satish Poonia and Sanjay Upadhyay as the election co-in-charge for the upcoming Greater Bengaluru Corporation election in Karnataka.
The Karnataka Election Commissioner GS Sangreshi had announced that the elections to the newly reconstituted Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will be held after 25 May.
He had also announced that ballot papers would be used for the elections, instead of electronic voting machines.
Ram Madhav is a former general secretary of the BJP, while Satish Poonia is a former Rajasthan president of the saffron party. Sanjay Upadhyay is an MLA from Maharashtra.
“Congratulations to Nitin Nabin for assuming the onerous and prestigious responsibility of the National President of the BJP. Grateful to him for assigning me the responsibility of Bruhad Bengaluru Mahanagar Palika (BBMP) elections scheduled for May 2026,” Ram Madhav said after the appointment.
“Local body elections are fought and won purely on local agendas and the strength and hard work of the local Karyakartas. Together with two other senior colleagues, we shall strive our utmost to help Team Karnataka in winning the prestigious election. BBMP is very prestigious because it is a conglomerate of 5 corporations that include several towns and more than 120 villages besides the city of Bengaluru. With an electorate of over 9 million and 369 corporation wards, it is no less than an assembly battle for the state.”
“Looking forward to meeting with all stakeholders in Bengaluru – state leadership, local MPs and MLAs and most importantly, the city leadership and karyakartas soon,” he added.
