Bengaluru’s Namma Metro will operate extended services across all three corridors on New Year’s Eve, with trains running into the early hours of 1 January 2026, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) said on Monday, 29 December.
Trains on the Purple, Green and Yellow lines will run between two and four hours longer than their usual schedule to ease travel for revellers expected to move out of the city centre after New Year celebrations at midnight on 31 December.
From 11.30 pm onwards, until the end of the extended service period, trains will run at eight-minute intervals on the Purple and Green lines. On the Yellow Line, services will operate at 15-minute intervals.
The last metro trains from terminal stations will depart at the following times:
Purple Line
Green Line
Yellow Line
At Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station, Majestic, the interchange station for the Purple and Green lines, the last train towards all four directions—Whitefield and Challaghatta on the Purple Line, and Madavara and Silk Institute on the Green Line—will depart at 2.45 am.
BMRCL also announced the closure of MG Road Metro station from 10 pm on 31 December, citing anticipated large public gatherings in the area.
The station will be closed for both entry and exit, and the corporation advised commuters to use the adjacent Trinity and Cubbon Park stations to board and alight.
Furthermore, to manage crowds and reduce waiting time, BMRCL will discontinue token sales at Trinity and Cubbon Park stations after 11 pm.
Passengers travelling after 11 pm from these stations have been advised to purchase return journey tickets in advance using QR tickets or to use smart cards with adequate balance.
