Prabhas

Now that “Rebel Star” Prabhas is being praised to the hilt following the stupendous response to his latest pan-India film Salaar: Part 1 Ceasefire (2023), it is clear that he broke the box-office jinx with the rampage that Salaar is currently making left, and right, and centre.

Following the grand spectacle of Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017), Prabhas found himself on a challenging path where box office triumph seemed elusive and the legion of his ardent admirers poured out their worries.

Yet, the silhouette of his larger-than-life persona never faded. In fact, it gradually got bigger over time.

Cinematic ventures such as Saaho (2019), Radhe Shyam (2022), and Adipurush (2023) unfortunately proved lacklustre — both in terms of narrative substance and commercial success. But the openings of these movies were huge.

The influx of audiences to theatres proves how Salaar: Part 1 Ceasefire is a thorough entertainer. Salaar: Part 1 Ceasefire has been receiving a positive response right from its first day.

Scenes of frantic moments and people clamouring for tickets are visible in major centres. As positive reviews came pouring in, the momentum is expected to continue throughout the week.

Prabhas may have ascended to new heights as a pan-India star, but the journey was never a cakewalk. There were hits, more misses and disasters.

Here are Prabhas’ 10 flicks that define his box office stature.

Ek Niranjan

This Puri Jagannadh directorial that came out in 2009, starring Kangana Ranaut alongside Prabhas, was a disaster.

Darling

This 2010 romantic comedy directed by A Karunakaran was released in theatres with a breakeven target of ₹16.8 crore.

In the full run, Darling earned ₹22.91 crore in all centres. The movie was praised for its background track. It was just a decent hit at the box office.

Mr Perfect

Mr Perfect was the third romantic comedy in a row starring Prabhas. It also had Kajal Aggarwal and Taapsee Pannu in the lead. Directed by Dashrath, the movie came in 2011.

Its break-even target was 20 crore. It managed to collect ₹27.92 crore in the full run and was labelled a superhit.

Rebel

This 2012 action drama starring Prabhas, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Deeksha Seth was said to be an all-time disaster in the actor’s career.
