The Kannada film industry, which has been reeling under box office failures for some time, bounced back with the success of multiple films this year.
The list includes Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare, Kousalya Supraja Rama, Aachar and Co, and Toby.
Hoping to continue its glory in September, there are at least a couple of big star movies lined up for release.
Writer-director Hemanth Rao and actor Rakshit Shetty are returning to the silver screen with another most anticipated release titled Sapta Sagaradaache Ello. Their previous collaboration was Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu in 2016.
The two-part film, which they termed Side A and Side B, is an intense romantic drama featuring Rakshit Shetty in the lead, portraying the role of Manu.
Rakshit Shetty is cast opposite Rukmini Vasanth in the first part (Side A). In a first for the Kannada film industry, the release date of Side B has also been announced — 20 October.
Chaitra J Achar, who impressed the audience with a stellar performance as Jenny in the recently released film Toby is set to play a crucial role in Side B of Sapta Sagaradaache Ello.
Side A is releasing in theatres on Friday, 1 September.

Golden Star Ganesh-starrer Baanadariyalli is finally hitting the screens on 15 September.
Preetham Gunni’s directorial was scheduled to release on 17 March alongside Kabzaa. However, it was pushed to a later date, and finally, the makers have decided to roll in the coming weeks.
The romantic adventure also stars Rukmini Vasanth and Reeshma Nanaiah.
Ganesh plays a cricketer in the story penned by cinematographer Preetha Jayaram. Director Preetham Gubbi is the screenwriter.
Preetham and Ganesh are collaborating for the fourth time after delivering Maleyali Jotheyali (2009), Dil Rangeela (2014) and 99 (2019).

A comeback venture for actress Meghana Raj Sarja, Tatsama Tadbhava is set for release on 15 September.
Written and directed by debutant Vishal Atreya, the mystery thriller revolves around the female protagonist who goes in search of her missing husband.
Prajwal Devaraj plays a cop in the film.

Actor Vijay Raghavendra is back with yet another psychological thriller titled Kaddha Chitra.
Directed by debutant Suhas Krishna, the film was previously scheduled for release on 25 August/ But with the actor’s wife Spandana Vijay Raghavendra passing away due to a heart attack, the team decided to push the release date.
Kaddha Chitra is now releasing on 8 September.
It is learnt that Vijay plays the role of a writer in different shades in the thriller.
