Series of flops for Mega heroes

The month of August served as a humiliation for the mega family. With a series of flops, the heroes from the Mega family seem to have been lost in deep thoughts, post-defeat.

It’s a sort of disgrace to see how Pawan Kalyan-Sai Dharam Tej’s Bro (2023) was pulled down and Baby (2023) was retained by the exhibitors. And a small-budget film Baby continuing its run by out-numbering stars like Pawan Kalyan is a dishonour.

Megastar Chiranjeevi suffered a massive jolt from Bhola Shankar (2023) as it tanked miserably at the box office.

Its director Meher Ramesh was trolled mercilessly for over-hyping the film, which toppled within a couple of days post the release.

The latest addition to the list of box office duds is Gandeevadhari Arjun (2023) starring Varun Tej.

The actor, who seemed fairly knowledgeable at least in selecting sensible scripts, fumbled yet again as Praveen Sattaru’s directorial failed to win the hearts of audiences.

Bro released on 28 July, Bhola Shankar on 11 August, and Gandeevadhari Arjuna on 25 August — the outcome of these movies now served as self-contemplation for the Mega family.

And, going by the audiences’ verdict, neither the Mega charm nor their popularity could turn the tide in their favour as people choose content over cutout at the box office.

Chiranjeevi to go on a break

It is learnt that Chiranjeevi wants to take a break before he can work on his upcoming films. He recently underwent knee surgery and has been advised to take rest.

Grapevine has it that Chiranjeevi resolved to say goodbye to remakes after facing defeat with Khaidi No 150 (2017), Godfather (2022), and Bhola Shankar.

The actor turned down a proposal from a Malayalam producer who met him to sell the remake rights of a Malayalam movie.

Chiranjeevi was supposed to kickstart the shooting of the remake of Bro Daddy (2022). It is directed by Kalyan Krishna. However, no official announcement has been made yet.

Meanwhile, Varun Tej slipped into the wedding mood as he preps to tie the knot with actress Lavanya Tripathi in November.

Another Mega hero, Vaisshnav Tej is anxious about his upcoming movie Adikesava which is scheduled to hit the theatres on 10 November.
