Actor Trisha has filed a defamation case against the politician AV Raju for the derogatory statements made against her on Tuesday, 20 February.
On Thursday, 22 February, the actor shared the legal notice addressed to AV Raju on her X account.
The notice mandates a significant compensation payment and insists on a public apology to be issued within 24 hours.
It read: “The apology must be published in prominent national English and Tamil newspapers, as well as across various digital media platforms.”
The legal notice further stresses additional legal measures if compliance is not met, “Therefore, our client hereby calls upon you to do the abovementioned, failing which our client will be compelled and constrained to initiate appropriate legal proceedings including but not limited to civil action and criminal proceedings against you. Needless to say, you will be liable for all costs and consequences thereof.”

While interacting with the media regarding the 2017 rebellion, Raju said the then Chief Minister O Panneerselvam dragged Trisha’s name and made derogatory remarks against her.
Reacting to his remarks, Trisha warned that “anything that needs to be said and done henceforth will be from her legal department”.
Following this, AV Raju tendered an apology to Trisha in a video on Wednesday, 21 February. He claimed that his statements were misinterpreted and he did not intend to target any actor.
He also apologised to director Cheran and actor Karunas for hurting their sentiments.
