According to producer Sophia Paul, 'Minnal Murali' is at the 2023 Comic-Con International: San Diego.
Malayalam flick Minnal Murali (2021) didn’t have a theatrical release. However, the first superhero movie in Malayalam turned out to be a massive success after its release on Netflix.
Two years after its release, the film has now attained a new achievement. Minnal Murali, the local superhero, will now woo the children by entering the comic books.
Thanks to cricketer Yuvraj Singh who was part of the promotions, upon its premiere on Netflix, the movie lept to one of the three most-watched non-English films globally on the OTT platform.
Tovino Thomas played the lead role in the film directed by Basil Joseph.
Sophia Paul, the producer of Minnal Murali, took to social media to confirm their association with Amar Chitra Katha, Tinkle Comics Studio, and Spirit Media.
Telugu actor Rana Daggubati owns Spirit Media.
“We’re excited to join forces with Spirit Media who share our love for the superheroes genre. Minnal Murali was a work of deep love and passion and we’re thrilled to present him in a new comic avatar to the fans,” said Sophia Paul.
Sophia also revealed that Minnal Murali is currently being screened at the 2023 Comic-Con International: San Diego.
Tovino Thomas, the lead actor of Minnal Murali shared the update via Instagram.
Rana is already at the Comic-Con event to promote the pan-Indian movie Project K, which is marketed and distributed by his Spirit Media.
Rana Daggubtai will also be part of the project Hiranyakashyap, developed by Spirit Media. It will be directed by Trivikram who is also its writer.
The movie is inspired by Amar Chitra Katha’s comics of the mythological figure, the powerful demon Hiranyakashyap.
Basil Joseph recently announced that discussions are underway for the story of the sequel to Minnal Murali.
This time, the movie will be screened in theatres across the world.
Tovino Thomas said they need some time to prepare the script. He also hinted at making physical changes to the character.
Minnal Murali featured Guru Somasundaram, Aju Varghese, Baiju, Mamukkoya, and Harisree Ashokan in key roles.
