As Rajinikanth braces up for Himalayas trip, ‘Jailer’ fever grips fans in Tamil Nadu

The tickets for the 9 AM show on 10 August have been sold for ₹1,500-₹2,500 in the theatres located on the outskirts of Chennai.

Superstar Rajinikanth, who is believed to have watched his upcoming film Jailer on the premises of Sun TV on Monday, 7 August, is all set to head to the Himalayas for a week.

Meanwhile, his excited fans in Tamil Nadu are making a mad rush to purchase the tickets for the action entertainer that is gearing up for a worldwide release on 10 August.

Sources close to the actor said that Rajini will not be in town for the Jailer‘s release and that he will be heading to the Himalayas for a spiritual sojourn.

The Superstar is expected to stay there for a week before returning to Chennai and resuming work.

Meanwhile, the State seems to have been caught in the grip of Jailer fever, with tickets for the movie being sold like hot cakes, much to the delight of theatre owners.

80-90% tickets sold until 13 August

The craze to watch the first show on the first day prevailed with fans buying tickets for the 9 AM show at some theatres on the outskirts of Chennai at almost nine times the original price.

Says a source, “The 9 AM show is the first show and there is a mad rush for tickets for this particular one. In a theatre located on the Chennai outskirts, each ticket is being sold for ₹1500. In a multiplex, each ticket is priced between ₹2,000 to ₹2,500.”

The source further adds, “For the other shows on the first day — the noon show, the matinee, the evening show and the night shows — the price of each ticket ranges between ₹750 to ₹1,000. Almost all shows in the city for the first day have been sold out. For the next three days (until Sunday, 13 August), around 80-90 per cent of the tickets have already been sold out.”

Directed by Nelson, Jailer also features Malayalam Superstar Mohan Lal, Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff, Kannada Superstar Shiva Rajkumar, Telugu actor Sunil, Ramya Krishnan, Vinayakan, Mirna Menon, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vasanth Ravi, Naga Babu, Yogi Babu, Jaffer Sadiq, and Kishore.

It is produced by Sun Pictures. Anirudh is the music director and Vijay Kartik Kannan is the cinematographer.
