Dil Raju and Vijay Deverakonda with Parasuram on The Family Star sets

Once revered as one of Tollywood’s promising young directors, filmmaker Parasuram has been enjoying success with movies like Yuvatha (2008), Solo (2017), Srirastu Subhamastu (2016), and Geetha Govindam (2018).

He touched another peak with the success of Geetha Govindam. After all, achieving a ₹100-crore film with a popular star like Vijay Deverakonda was not an easy feat. The unexpected success of the movie propelled Parasuram as one of the sought-after directors in Tollywood.

Several top film production houses in Telugu signed him for projects and offered good paychecks. Even star heroes were keen on collaborating with him.

Subsequently, Parasuram secured the opportunity to direct Sarkaru Vari Paata (2022) with Superstar Mahesh Babu. However, the director fell short of meeting the expectations of Mahesh’s fans.

While the big-budget film performed better than anticipated upon its release, it ultimately ended up being a box-office dud.

The concept, certain scenes, and dialogues from Sarkaru Vari Paata became fodder for trolls on Twitter.

Yet another dud from Parasauram — The Family Star

However, instead of rectifying his mistakes, Parasuram could not better his chances. He delivered another disappointment with his latest outing — The Family Star, headlined by Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur.

Unlike his usual popularity for his making style, Parasuram faced criticism for the illogical scenes and meaningless dialogue in The Family Star. Netizens continue to lambast him following the movie’s OTT release on Amazon Prime Video.

Not that Parasuram did not have his share of flops in Tollywood, but the damage caused by The Family Star was not an ordinary one.

Given the current circumstances, it appears challenging for the filmmaker to secure a new offer.

Though Parasuram is trying to collaborate with Ram Pothineni for a venture, it is still uncertain if the actor will agree or if they will find a producer.

Even if everything goes smoothly, winning back the audience’s interest after two consecutive disasters will not be an easy task for Parasuram!
