The first-look poster of director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming film with Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth is out. Tentatively titled Thalaivar171, the movie marks the first time collaboration of Lokesh and Rajinikanth.
On Thursday, 28 March, Lokesh released the first-look poster of Thalaivar171.
In the poster, Rajinikanth wears golden Rolex watches as “handcuffs”. He sports a rugged shirt and a pair of golden-framed sunglasses. He amplifies the look with a smug smile on his face.
While Rajinikanth is presented against a monochromatic background, his sunglasses, watches and the title are all gold. The number 171 is presented in red letters.
Taking to X, Lokesh announced that the movie’s title will be revealed on 22 April. However, lots of fan theories are going on the rounds in social media.

The stunning poster caught the fancy of fans and moviegoers alike.
Meanwhile, as the poster went viral, social media was flooded with fan theories.
A netizen predicted that Rajinikanth’s new film would have a crossover with Rolex.
An X user said, ROLEX APPAN AH IRKUMOOO (Will it be the dad of Rolex?)”.
“Rolex Dady is coming.. #Thalaivar171,” added another.
Another fan designed a poster with Thala Ajith in the same pose.

A user zoomed out on Rajinikanth’s earring in the Thalaivar171 poster and asked how many noticed the earring.

Sharing a poster of Karthi’s Japan (2023), a user wittingly asked if the movie belongs to Japan Universe.
A couple of fans went to the lengths of predicting the whole plot line.
An X user wondered:” Time Travel Movie??
A fan wrote: “There are lot of watches in the poster which means the film has something to do with watches, Rolex per already vechitaru – namma Thalaivar ki endha Peru vekkaporaro.”
However, the best of the fan theories was by a user named Karthik DP.
The Rajinikanth fan predicted the plot this way: “In a city where time 🕰️ is currency, a wealthy individual is kidnapped and handcuffed to a valuable watch by a mysterious group. With time ticking away, the victim must navigate a dangerous world to outsmart their captors and uncover the secrets of the watch before it’s too late.”

Some others predicted the collections of the movie saying it will be a super hit and will collect around ₹500 crore.
Thalaivar171 is expected to be an action film. Lokesh previously announced that he wanted to show the villainous side of Thalaivar and that the movie isn’t an instalment of his LCU universe.
Meanwhile, Anirudh Ravichander is scoring the music for Thalaivar171. He previously composed songs for Rajinikanth’s superhit movie Jailer (2023).
The action choreography is by Anbariv.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is working on his upcoming movie Vettaiyan directed by TJ Gnanavel.
