Varun Tej's VT15 starts rolling

Actor Varun Tej, last seen in Matka, is now teaming up with Merlapaka Gandhi for a horror-comedy. The film, tentatively titled VT15, started rolling on Monday, 24 March, with a ceremonial puja.

Sharing the news, Varun Tej wrote on X: “Kickstarting the next one with a whole lot of new energy! Need all your love & wishes.”

VT15 stars Ritika Nayak as the female lead. The film’s music is composed by Thaman S, with cinematography by Manojh Reddy. Produced by Rajeev Reddy, VT15 is a joint production of UV Creations and First Frame Productions.

Earlier, on the occasion of his birthday, the actor shared the poster of the film, which showcased a vase with a dragon symbol. The backdrop had a fire and something written in Korean. He had then noted that the film would be a laugh riot.

According to a TimesNow report, Varun Tej received training in Taekwondo, a Korean martial art and combat sport. He underwent training under stunt choreographers from Korea – they flew down to Hyderabad to train Varun in punching techniques.

Varun Tej’s last film Matka was set in the background of Visakhapatnam between 1958 and 1962. The film stars Meenakshi Chaudhary in the lead role opposite Varun Tej.

The film, directed by Karuna Kumar, underperformed at the box office. Touted to be the costliest film of Varun Tej, the actor had a lot of hopes pinned on it.

His other previous films Operation Valentine (2024), Gandeevadhari Arjuna (2023), and Ghani (2022) also bombed at the box office.

Meanwhile, Merlapaka Gandhi’s earlier films are Express Raja, Sapthagiri Express and Krishnarjuna Yudham. Ritika Nayak’s upcoming projects include Mirai, starring Teja Sajja.
