The makers of Pushpa: The Rule have announced that shooting has resumed. They are filming a major action sequence for the climax. This news follows rumours of a feud between star Allu Arjun and director Sukumar, which led to concerns about potential delays.
Reports circulated on social media suggesting that the rift between Arjun and Sukumar caused shooting delays for Pushpa: The Rule. There were claims that both were vacationing separately, leaving the producers shocked. However, team denied these rumours, stating that the shooting was on track.
Recently, a video of Allu Arjun with his new look inside an aircraft circulated on social media, sparking fan theories about the nature of the conflict between the actor and director.
Despite earlier reports suggesting a 2025 release, the team affirmed that Pushpa: The Rule will have a worldwide release on 6 December, as previously announced.
The makers already treated the audience to a teaser and songs like “Pushpa Pushpa” and “The Couple Song“.
Originally set to release on Independence Day, 15 August, the date was revised, causing some tension among fans. The sequel follows the success of Pushpa: The Rise, a blockbuster released in December 2021.
The Telugu-language film was dubbed into several Indian languages and became the biggest box office hit of 2021 in India. It also marked the first time a Telugu film actor won the Best Actor award at the National Film Awards.
The first film explored the rise of Arjun’s Pushpa Raj in a red sandalwood smuggling syndicate and set up a conflict with Fahadh Faasil’s inspector Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat.
Allu Arjun hinted that Pushpa 2 will showcase a “different side” of his character compared to Pushpa: The Rise.
“We aimed at an authentic storytelling and rustic presentation. We stayed true to ourselves and connected with everyone through our honest approach. The genuine, relatable characterisations resonated across all languages,” the actor noted.
Allu Arjun explained that the sequel will explore the highest end of the spectrum in terms of characterisation, scale, and presentation.
“Pushpa 2 will be on a much larger canvas, offering a new dimension to the character,” he observed, in an interview, attributing the the success of Pushpa 1 to its rootedness.
Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers in collaboration with Sukumar Writings, Pushpa: The Rule continues the story of Arjun’s character alongside Rashmika Mandanna.
