Manchu Vishnu’s big project Kannappa has locked its release date. The anticipated mythological film is set for a summer release.

Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by Mohan Babu, Kannappa will hit the big screens on 25 April 2025.

Vishnu Manchu is playing the titular role in the ambitious venture. His son Avram is making a debut in the flick.

Sharing the news on X, Manchu Vishnu shared a poster showing a thrishul in the backdrop of mountains. Recently the makers also released a poster of the actor Mohan Babu in the role of Mahadeva Sastri.

The film also features Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, Madhoo, Preity Mukundhan, Mukesh Rishi, and Tamannaah Bhatia, in key roles. Originally made in Telugu, it is dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.

According to reports, Kannappa is described as a grand production that features stars from across the country, including Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, and Kajal Aggarwal.

The film was initially scheduled to be released in December, however, it is now delayed owing to various reasons including Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule release on 5 December.

The action entertainer is based on the true story of  Bhakta Kannappa, an atheist and brave warrior, who later became a devoted follower of Lord Shiva.

Kannappa, a legendary figure in Telugu folklore, famously offered his eye to the deity. Saint Manickavasagar praised Kannappa Nayanar’s devotion in Thiruvasagam acknowledging that his devotion did not match Kannappa Nayanar’s.

Produced by AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory, the film boasts a talented crew including Hollywood cinematographer Sheldon Chau, action director Kecha Khamphakdee, editor Anthony Gonsalvez, and dance maestro Prabhudheva. Stephen Devassy is the film’s music composer.

Paruchuri Gopalakrishna, Burra Sai Madhav, and Thota Prasad penned the story.

In May, Vishnu Manchu showcased Kannappa teaser at the Cannes Film Festival.
