Kartikeya's Bhaje Vaayu Vegam trends on Netflix

Kartikeya’s latest Telugu film Bhaje Vaayu Vegam, which hit the big screens on 31 May, was dropped on Netflix on 28 June. Written and directed by Prashanth Reddy, the thriller-drama is ranking second in the Netflix India trends.

Looks like movie enthusiasts, who couldn’t see Bhaje Vaayu Vegam in theatres, caught it in large numbers on Netflix over the weekend.

Bhaje Vaayu Vegam marks Kartikeya’s ninth film as a lead actor and his eleventh overall, which includes two projects, where he played the antagonist—Nani’s Gang Leader (2019) and Ajith Kumar’s Valimai (2022).

In the film, Kartikeya plays a skilled athlete, who is pursued by both police and mafia after he steals a bag of cash while striving to save his ailing father.

Bhaje Vaayu Vegam features a supporting cast, including Iswarya Menon, Ravi Shankar P, Rahul Dayakiran, Sharath Lohitashwa, and Tanikella Bharani.

It follows Kartikeya’s previous hit, Bedurulanka 2012 (2023), and was in development for nearly two years. Writer-director Prashanth conceived a storyline that intertwines a father-son relationship with a race against time.

Produced on a budget of less than ₹15 crore, the film was released alongside Vishwak Sen’s Gangs of Godavari and Anand Deverakonda’s Gam Gam Ganesha. These three films, featuring popular young heroes in lead roles, faced stiff competition against each other.

During promotional interviews, Kartikeya radiated confidence and expressed certainty about the success of Bhaje Vaayu Vegam. He mentioned, “A positive reception will affirm my decision as an actor, confirming that I am headed in the right direction.”

In interviews, the actor credited meticulous pre-production planning for enabling the film’s success.

“Prashanth had a precise vision for how he wanted his script translated on screen. With the help of action choreographers Dilip Subbarayan and Venkat Master, we smoothly executed the action sequences,” Kartikeya stated, noting his growth as an actor and improved ability to assess scripts after more than 10 film releases.

Bhaje Vaayu Vegam is produced by UV Concepts. Radhan composed the music, and RD Rajasekar handled the cinematography.
