Bengaluru rave party: Telugu actor Hema named in chargesheet for alleged drug use. (X)
Telugu actor Hema has been formally named in a chargesheet submitted to the Bengaluru Rural Additional District Sessions Court by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police. The chargesheet, which spans 1,086 pages, includes 88 names in connection with a rave party at a farmhouse near Bengaluru in May 2024, claimed a report by ETV Bharat.
The chargesheet also mentioned that Hema was among the individuals accused of consuming drugs at the event. Further, it claimed that she tested positive for MDMA.
Medical records and evidence gathered at the scene reportedly support the allegations against her.
Following this, the actor has been directed by the NDPS special court to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.
The incident in question took place on 19 May at GM Farm House near Hebbagodi, on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The party, organised by Vijayawada-based businessman L Vasu, saw several high-profile guests in attendance.
Acting on a tip-off, the CCB raided the farmhouse, suspecting the use and distribution of drugs at the event. They found over 100 people from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Bengaluru partying at the farmhouse.
According to PTI, of the 98 blood samples collected at the scene, 86 individuals, including Hema, reportedly tested positive for narcotics.
The chargesheet submitted to the court alleges that Hema consumed MDMA during the party. However, the actor consistently denied these allegations.
In early June, Hema was arrested after being called in for questioning. The CCB stated that her responses during interrogation were unsatisfactory, leading to her detention on 3 June. However, she was granted conditional bail and released on 14 June.
During her release, she was seen interacting with police officers and completing paperwork before leaving.
Meanwhile, since the news of the rave party broke, Hema publicly maintained her innocence. Addressing the media outside the police station, she expressed frustration at the accusations, saying, “I didn’t do anything. I am innocent. Look at what they’re doing to me. I did not take drugs.”
The Telugu actor also claimed that her blood samples were never taken at the party, despite reports to the contrary.
Further, she released multiple videos on Instagram, denying her presence at the rave and asserting that she was in Hyderabad at the time.
In one video, she was seen cooking biryani at her home, further attempting to distance herself from the allegations.
And now, despite being released on bail earlier, Hema’s inclusion in the chargesheet indicates that she remains a key figure in the case.
