Vettaiyan audio launch: Amitabh Bachchan defines Rajinikanth as 'supreme of all stars'

Superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth are coming together after 33 years to work on the Tamil film Vettaiyan. The movie marks the Tamil debut for Amitabh Bachchan, at the age of 81.

Directed by TJ Gnanavel of Jai Bhim (2021) fame and bankrolled by Lyca Productions, the film is all set to hit the screens on 10 October.

On Friday, 20 September, team Vettaiyan organised a grand audio launch event in Chennai, which was attended by the whole cast and crew.

Amitabh Bachchan couldn’t attend the event. However, he sent a video message, addressing the film unit and audiences.

In the video, the Hindi superstar praised Rajinikanth and called him “supreme of all stars.”

Amitabh Bachchan said, “Vettaiyan is my first Tamil film, I’m very honoured. Rajinikanth is the supreme of all stars.”

Further recalling working with Rajinikanth during Hum (1991), Amitabh Bachchan recalled, “I used to rest in my AC caravan while shooting for Hum, and Rajini slept on the floor during breaks. Watching him be so simple, I came out of the vehicle and rested outside.”

Amitabh Bachchan, who earned praise for his performance in Kalki 2989 AD, will portray the role of Sathyadev in Vettaiyan.

The makers on 19 September released a poster and a short behind-the-scenes video.

Manasilayo breaks internet

Early this month, on the occasion of Manju Warrier’s birthday, the makers released a dance number featuring her—”Manasilayo“.

Composed by Rockstar Anirudh Ravichander, the song has ever since become the talk of the town.

A major highlight of the soundtrack is the use of AI technology to regenerate the voice of late singer Malaysia Vasudevan, which has been in the news for some time now.

The “Manasilayo” song showcases impressive dance moves by Rajinikanth and Anirudh Ravichander, which have been widely praised.

However, Malayalee fans have been particularly celebrating the Vettaiyan song for Manju Warrier, who raised many eyebrows with her excellent dance moves alongside Rajinikanth.

Vettaiyan also features Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and Ritika Singh. The film was shot across several locations in South India and Mumbai.

The Tamil movie features music by Anirudh Ravichander, marking his fourth collaboration with Rajinikanth.

The technical team also includes cinematographer SR Kathir and editor Philomin Raj.
