Earlier the makers announced the sequel with a four-minute teaser, in which, director Nelson and music director Anirudh are seen chilling at Goa. Soon a group of people barge into the house, and a man is attacking them. The man is revealed to be none other than Superstar Rajinikanth.
The teaser had ‘Tiger Ka Hukum‘ playing in the background. Going by the teaser, it is evident that Jailer 2 will be it’s predecessor’s sequel in every sense.
Rajinikanth will reprise his role as Muthuvel Pandian IPS in Jailer 2. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are expected to return as Mathew and Narasimha respectively, with new surprise cast additions.
In this ultra-violent crime drama, a retired jailer is compelled to seek vengeance years after retirement. The charismatic Rajinikanth adopts a restrained, low-key persona, only stepping into action when necessary.
Despite the film’s blockbuster elements, the superstar doesn’t quite embody the action hero of his earlier roles.
Jailer revolves around a father who goes to great lengths for his son, including confronting a criminal gang.
The film begins with Rajinikanth exploring black comedy, which succeeds in some areas but falls flat in others. The plot takes its time to dive into the main conflict, but Rajinikanth compensates for the film’s slow moments with his compelling performance.
Despite its criticism, Jailer is a film that celebrates the industry itself. Explosive cameos by Shiva Rajkumar, Jackie Shroff, and Mohanlal ignite the screen, and their interactions with Rajinikanth provide numerous whistle-worthy moments.
The Tamil film also includes nostalgic callbacks to Rajinikanth’s superhit movies like Baashha (1995) and Enthiran (2010), adding a memorable touch.
