Soon after the makers of Prashanth’s Andhagan released the “Andhagan Anthem” promo song, music composer Santhosh Narayanan surprised many by voicing concerns on social media about the newly launched anthem.
Although he was credited as the music director, Santhosh Narayanan distanced himself from the “Andhagan Anthem” shortly after its release. Indeed, the composer took to X to clarify that the music, lyrics, arrangement, mix, and master were not his.
Andhagan is scheduled for release on 15 August, alongside Vikram’s Thangalaan and Keerthy Suresh’s Raghu Thatha.
“Andhagan Anthem” was sung by Anirudh Ravichander, choreographed by Sandy, visually conceptualised by Prabhudheva, and penned by writers Umadevi and Ekadasi. The song was launched by actor Vijay, a long-time friend of Prashanth.
Interestingly, Prashanth and Prabhudheva share screen space in the upcoming Vijay starrer The Greatest of All Time (GOAT), directed by Venkat Prabhu.
Andhagan is the official Tamil remake of Sriram Raghavan’s 2018 film Andhadhun, which featured Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu, and Radhika Apte. The film centres on a seemingly blind pianist who becomes entangled in the murder of a former actor.
It won three National Film Awards—Best Feature Film in Hindi, Best Actor (for Khurrana), and Best Screenplay.
Directed by Prashanth’s actor-father Thiagarajan, Andhagan also casts Simran, Priya Anand, Karthik, Samuthirakani, Yogi Babu, Urvashi, KS Ravikumar, Vanitha Vijaykumar, Leela Samson, Poovaiyar, Besant Ravi, and Mohan Vaidya. The late actor Manobala appears in the film as a police officer.
With dialogues by Pattukottai Prabhakar, the technical team for Andhagan includes cinematography by Ravi Yadav and editing by Sathish Suriya, with Staar Movies producing the film.
It’s worth noting that Andhadhun was remade in Telugu as Maestro (2021) with Nithiin, Tamannaah, and Nabha Natesh, and in Malayalam as Bhramam (2021) starring Prithviraj Sukumaran.
For the first time in history, the audio label is also playing a blind character – method acting ? . FYI I don’t charge a fee to check if the actual music/lyric/arrangement/mix/master is actually mine . All The Best Of Luck 😂😂 https://t.co/i7rWKBFQ9N pic.twitter.com/iMq0dhxmfj
