Rajinikanth all praise for ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, calls it an epic film

The Tamil superstar lauded Nag Ashwin for taking "Indian cinema to a different level" and said he can't wait for the release of part 2.

Rajanikanth praises Kalki 2898 AD

Superstar Rajinikanth has showered praises on the blockbuster (Telugu) movie Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin.

After watching the pan-India film, Rajinikanth took to X where he called Kalki 2898 AD an “epic movie” and also praised the director for taking “Indian cinema to a different level”.

He also congratulated Aswini Dutt, Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and the whole team. Further, he said he can’t wait for the release of part 2.

Kalki 2898 AD was also released in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English. It featured cameos by SS Rajamouli, Vijay Devarakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur, Brahmanandam, and Ram Gopal Varma.

The Prabhas-starrer received a phenomenal response from across the world. The epic dystopian sci-fi action film collected a worldwide gross of ₹191.50 crore on its opening day.

The makers claimed that Kalki 2898 AD witnessed the biggest opening for an Indian and Telugu film in 2024. Further, it earned ₹298.5 crore at the global box office on day 2.

The Nag Ashwin directorial also achieved the status of being the highest-grossing Indian film of all time at the North American box office.

Moved by the rousing welcome to the film, Kamal Haasan, who played the formidable antagonist Yaskin in it, said, “In Kalki, I have played a small role that makes an appearance for a few minutes only. My real part in the film has only begun and I will have more to do in the second part. So, I watched this film as a fan and I was astonished,” he was quoted as saying by Indian Express.

Further, the actor revealed that he watched Kalki 2898 AD as a fan and was pleasantly surprised.

Commending Amitabh Bachchan’s performance in the movie, Kamal Haasan said he was torn between calling him (Bachchan) a seasoned veteran or a fresh actor because of his remarkable portrayal of the role of Ashwatthama.

Meanwhile, the makers released the full video song, “Ta Takkara” on Saturday, 29 June. The soundtrack, sung by Sanjith Hegde, Dhee, and Santhosh Narayanan, was penned by Ramajogayya Sastry. The video song is trending on YouTube Music.

Kalki 2898 AD has music composed by Santhosh Narayanan and cinematography handled by Djordje Stojiljkovic.
