'Idli Kadai' to release on 1 October. (X)
Dhanush’s directorial, Idli Kadai, which was set to clash with Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly on 10 April, has opted out of the race.
A week ahead of the release, the actor-director took to his social media to announce the new release date of the film with a poster. The film, which will also star Dhanush, will hit the big screens on 1 October 2025.

Nitya Menen is playing the female lead. The duo came together after the 2022 hit Thiruhitrambalam. This will be his 52nd film as an actor and fourth as a director. The music will be given by GV Prakash.
Meanwhile, Ajith’s film Good Bad Ugly was initially a Pongal release. However, it was delayed and is hitting the screens on 10 April 2025.
The film directed by Adhik Ravichandran is anticipated to be an action thriller, with Ajith playing a triple role. The film also stars Trisha as the female lead.
Previously, Ajith’s other film, Vidaamuyarichi, also a pongal release, was delayed and was clashing with Dhanush’s NEEK. However, the director then delayed his film by two weeks.
It has also been reported that the film will be a family entertainer, contrary to Dhanush’s recent action dramas.
Further, Ashok Selvan is expected to appear in a pivotal role in Idli Kadai. Arun Vijay is likely to play the antagonist.
Aakash Baskaran of Dawn Pictures is backing Idli Kadai along with Dhanush’s production house, Wunderbar Films. This is the maiden production venture of Dawn Pictures.
From the poster, it is speculated that Dhanush is the owner of an eatery named Sivanesan Idli Kadai.
His first directorial venture, the 2017 film Pa Pandi, received critical acclaim. Raayan (2024) and NEEK (2025) are his second and third movies as a director.
Meanwhile, fans are eagerly awaiting Dhanush’s appearance in the pan-Indian Telugu film Kubera, directed by Sekhar Kammula. The socio-drama stars Rashmika Mandanna, Nagarjuna, and Jim Sarbh in prominent roles. It will be released worldwide in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
Devi Sri Prasad is scoring the music for Kubera and Niketh Bommi is handling the cinematography.
Apart from Kubera, Dhanush has Tere Ishk Mein, Maestro and another film with Mari Selvaraj in the pipeline
