Suriya and Aamir Khan in 'Ghajini'. (X)
Ghajini the massive hit of the 2000s is back in the news. Initially, the film was made in Tamil in 2005, with Suriya in the lead.
After the massive success in Tamil, it was remade in Hindi, in 2008, with Aamir Khan playing the lead. However, both films were directed by AR Murugadoss.
Suriya, who is busy promoting his upcoming film Kanguva in Mumbai and Delhi, in an interaction with the Pinkvilla, spoke about the possibility of Ghajini 2.
According to the Pinkvilla report, Suriya was quoted as saying, “Ghajini 2 was actually, surprising that you asked me now. After a long time, Allu Aravind came up with that idea (for the sequel) and asked if that would be possible. I said definitely sir, we can think of it. Yes, the talk has started, the things are in process. Ghajini 2 might happen.”
The report further claimed that Allu Arvind the producer from the south, and Madhu Manthena, the Hindi producer, are planning to shoot the film simultaneously, with Suriya and Aamir Khan.
“They are also concerned that the film arriving first will take away the novelty factor and conveyed their concerns to the producers. On hearing out both the actors, Allu Aravind and Madhu Mantena came up with a solution of shooting for the two Ghajini films at the same time frame and bringing them to the big screen on the same day,” they further claimed.
On the other hand, speaking to the media, Suriya thanked Aamir Khan for introducing him to the Hindi media while promoting Ghajini, “It started with Aamir sir coming and speaking with the media about me, like ‘this is the person who did the original version of Ghajini‘.”
Suriya is gearing up for Kanguva— the gory period drama, directed by Siruthai Siva, touted to be an ambitious fantasy action entertainer. Kanguva is reportedly made with a massive budget of over ₹300 crore.
Apart from the magnum opus, Suriya wrapped shooting for Suriya 44 with Karthik Subbaraj and has now signed a new project— Suriya 45 with Dream Warrior Pictures under the direction of RJ Balaji.
Meanwhile, AR Murugadoss is shooting with Salman Khan for a film titled Sikhander.
