Dhanush to play former President Abdul Kalam in biopic

The film to be directed by Om Raut is titled 'Kalam- The Missile Man of India'.

Dhanush in Kalam- The Missile Man of India

Actor- director Dhanush is all set to headline former President APJ Abdul Kalam’s biopic directed by Om Raut.

Sharing the announcement, the director wrote on X: “From Rameswaram to Rashtrapati Bhavan, the journey of a legend begins… India’s Missile Man is coming to the silver screen. Dream big. Rise higher.”

The film is titled Kalam- The Missile Man of India, and is set to release in Hindi.

Director Om Raut, previously worked with Prabhas, for Adipurush (2023). Meanwhile, the film is fourth Hindi venture of the actor after Raanjhanaa, Shamitabh Atrangi Re and Tere Ishk Mein.

The film is produced by T-Series Films’ Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar and Abhishek Agarwal Films’ Abhishek Agarwal and Anil Sunkara.

APJ Abdul Kalam was born and raised in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, studied physics and later specialized in aerospace engineering. For about 40 years, he worked as a scientist and administrator, mainly at DRDO and ISRO. He played an important role in developing India’s space and missile programs. Because of his work on missiles and launch systems, people called him the “Missile Man of India.”

He became the President of India in 2002, and stayed in office for one term, till 2007.

Meanwhile, fans are eagerly awaiting Dhanush’s appearance in the pan-Indian Telugu film Kubera, directed by Sekhar Kammula. The socio-drama stars Rashmika MandannaNagarjuna, and Jim Sarbh in prominent roles. It will be released worldwide in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.

Devi Sri Prasad is scoring the music for Kubera and Niketh Bommi is handling the cinematography.

Apart from Kubera, Dhanush has Tere Ishk Mein, Maestro and another film with Mari Selvaraj in the pipeline.
