Dhanush recently visited Hyderabad to promote his upcoming directorial Raayan, alongside the cast and crew. Written and starring Dhanush, Raayan is his 50th film and second directorial venture after Pa Paandi (2017).
Notably, this is Dhanush’s first time directing his filmmaker-brother Selvaraghavan. At the Hyderabad promotional event, the actor shared his admiration for Pawan Kalyan and Jr NTR.
When asked about his favourite Telugu actor and his preference for a multi-starrer with Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR, Ram Charan, or Allu Arjun, Dhanush briefly pondered before responding, “Tarak, Jr NTR,” prompting cheers from the audience.
Further, Dhanush named Pawan Kalyan as his favourite actor. “I’ll answer. But please fans, don’t hate me. I love cinema, but I adore Pawan Kalyan sir,” he replied to the question about his favourite hero. The audience’s cheers were so loud that they drowned out Dhanush and the host’s voices.
His forthcoming flick Raayan will be released on 26 July with the trailer showcasing him in an intense role. The film also features SJ Suryah, Prakash Raj, Dushara Vijayan, Sundeep Kishen, Kalidas Jayaram, Aparna Balamurali, Saravanan, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in significant roles.
Raayan is Dhanush’s second film, after Vada Chennai (2018) directed by Vetrimaaran, to receive an “A” certificate. It has a runtime of two hours and 25 minutes.
The technical team includes AR Rahman for music, Om Prakash for cinematography, Prasanna GK for editing, Peter Hein for stunts, and dance choreography by Prabhudheva and Baba Baskar.

Additionally, Dhanush will appear in Sekhar Kammula’s bilingual film Kubera, released in Telugu and Tamil. It stars Akkineni Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh in key roles.
Dhanush will also play Ilaiyaraaja in an upcoming biopic, directed by Arun Matheswaran, who previously helmed Captain Miller, which was released earlier this year.
Further, the actor announced his third directorial project, Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam. The teen romantic-comedy features Priya Prakash Varrier, Mathew Thomas, and Anikha Surendran in the lead.
