Dhanush directorial ‘Idli Kadai’ wraps shooting

Dhanush’s next directorial Idli Kadai which stars him and Nitya Menen has wrapped up shooting on Saturday, 26 April.

The duo came together after the 2022 hit Thiruhitrambalam. This will be his 52nd film as an actor and fourth as a director. The music will be given by GV Prakash.

Sharing the news on X, the makers wrote on X: “It’s time to call it a WRAP for #IdlyKadai. See you in theatres on the 1st of October. Exciting updates soon.”

It has also been reported that the film will be a family entertainer, contrary to Dhanush’s recent action dramas.

Further, Ashok Selvan is expected to appear in a pivotal role in Idli Kadai. Arun Vijay is likely to play the antagonist.

Aakash Baskaran of Dawn Pictures is backing Idli Kadai along with Dhanush’s production house, Wunderbar Films. This is the maiden production venture of Dawn Pictures.

From the poster, it is speculated that Dhanush is the owner of an eatery named Sivanesan Idli Kadai.

His first directorial venture, the 2017 film Pa Pandi, received critical acclaim. Raayan (2024) and NEEK (2025) are his second and third movies as a director.

Other projects in the pipeline 

Meanwhile, fans are eagerly awaiting Dhanush’s appearance in the pan-Indian Telugu film Kubera, directed by Sekhar Kammula. The socio-drama stars Rashmika Mandanna, Nagarjuna, and Jim Sarbh in prominent roles. It will be released worldwide in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.

Devi Sri Prasad is scoring the music for Kubera and Niketh Bommi is handling the cinematography.

Apart from Kubera, Dhanush has Tere Ishk Mein, Maestro and another film with Mari Selvaraj in the pipeline
