D52: Dhanush joins hands with Dawn Pictures for their maiden venture

Tamil star hero Dhanush, who recently resolved his issues with the Tamil Films Producers Council (TFPC), is set to star in the maiden project of Dawn Pictures—tentatively titled D52.

The TFPC previously issued a red card against the actor due to disputes over advance payments for films. But this has now been settled. Following this resolution, the announcement of Dhanush’s D52 has been met with excitement from his fans.

On Tuesday, 17 September, Dawn Pictures took to social media to share the news of their debut project. The makers also tagged Dhanush’s production house Wunderbar Films, which will co-produce the film alongside Dawn Pictures.

A note shared by Dawn Pictures further expressed their excitement. “We proudly announce our debut project ‘D52’ with ‘Nadipin Asuran’ Dhanush sir. We sincerely thank him for this wonderful opportunity to collaborate on this exciting journey,” producer Aakash Baskaran said in the note.

While the details about the director and the rest of the crew of D52 remain under wraps, reports claim that Dhanush will wield the megaphone for the project.

Meanwhile, the buzz around D52 intensified after reports surfaced online about Nithya Menen playing the female lead in the film, with Ashok Selvan appearing in a pivotal role and Arun Vijay as the antagonist.

The music will be composed by GV Prakash. It is reported that the musician already completed two songs. Reports also claim that the shooting for D52 already commenced in Theni, beginning with a song sequence.

Dhanush’s upcoming films

Dhanush recently two projects, including his third directorial venture Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam (NEEK). GV Prakash has been roped in as the music director for this project. The musician, during a press meet in March, hinted at his possible cameo in NEEK.

His second directorial, Raayan, was released in July. Despite the mixed reviews, it raked in ₹117 core at the global box office within seven days of its theatrical release.

Also, the Tamil movie won a rare recognition. The Academy honoured the film’s screenplay by including it in The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Library.

Additionally, Dhanush is set to direct a film starring Arjun Vijay, according to a report from Hindustan Times.

Meanwhile, fans are eagerly awaiting Dhanush’s appearance in the pan-Indian Telugu film Kubera, directed by Sekhar Kammula. The socio-drama stars Rashmika Mandanna, Nagarjuna, and Jim Sarbh in prominent roles. It will be released worldwide in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.

Devi Sri Prasad is scoring the music for Kubera and Niketh Bommi is handling the cinematography.

In another exciting development, rumours are agog about Dhanush potentially reuniting with the Russo Brothers for a role in the most-anticipated Hollywood project, Avengers: Doomsday.

While neither Dhanush nor the Russo Brothers confirmed the reports, fans are hopeful about the venture, given his acclaimed performance in the action thriller The Gray Man (2022).
