Tamil superstar Rajinikanth had undergone an elective procedure at the Greams Road in Chennai on Tuesday, 1 October.
He was admitted to the hospital late at night on Monday, 30 September.
According to hospital sources, the 73-year-old actor underwent the elective procedure at the hospital’s Cath lab, not the operation theatre.
His surgery is said to be completed soon, and Rajinikanth will be shifted to the ward by noon on Tuesday. The elective procedure was done to repair the enlargement of a blood vessel near the abdomen. The hospital sources further confirmed that his condition is stable.
However, this is not the first time he has been hospitalised in recent years. In 2020, he was hospitalised in Hyderabad for hypertension. In fact, Rajinikanth had also differed his much-awaited political plunge citing health reasons.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin took to X, to wish the superstar a speedy recovery. “I wish my friend Mr Rajinikanth, who has been hospitalised, a speedy recovery.”

Rajinikanth has been busy shooting for Coolie by director Lokesh Kanagaraj and also promoting his next release Vettaiyan.
Directed by TJ Gnanavel of Jai Bhim (2021) fame and bankrolled by Lyca Productions, the film is all set to hit the screens on 10 October.
The film’s trailer is also expected to be released on Wednesday, 2 October, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi.

The actor was recently in Hyderabad for a shoot and reached Chennai on 28 September. Rajinikanth was also in the news recently for refusing to comment on the Tirupati Laddu row.
Vettaiyan also features Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and Ritika Singh. The film was shot across several locations in South India and Mumbai.
The Tamil movie features music by Anirudh Ravichander, marking his fourth collaboration with Rajinikanth.
The technical team also includes cinematographer SR Kathir and editor Philomin Raj.
