Tamil watchlist: ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ to ‘Fight Club’, here are the eagerly-awaited releases for December

Sources say 'Fight Club', which is in its final stages of post-production, is likely to hit the screens on 15 December.

The Tamil film industry is looking to finish the year with a flourish.

Yes, several meaningful movies with strong content are scheduled for release this December. The list includes Saravanan’s Naadu, Ramkumar Balakrishnan’s Parking, and Nayanthara’s Annapoorani, to mention a few.

However, Gautham Menon’s Dhruva Natchathram is still awaiting its release date.

Naadu

Director Saravanan, who made the critically acclaimed superhit film Engeyum Eppothum (2011), is expected to be back with this hard-hitting and realistic story that is likely to move audiences — Naadu.

The film, which is based on a real-life incident that Saravanan witnessed in the Kolli hills, features Bigg Boss contestant Tharshan and actress Mahima Nambiar in the lead.

It also casts RS Sivaji, Singam Puli, Inba Ravikumar, and Vasantha in pivotal roles.

The music is by C Sathya and the cinematography is by K.A Sakthivel.

Naadu speaks about the difficult lives that those living in the hills lead.

It will hit the marquee on 1 December.

Parking

If its pre-release business is anything to go by, then Parking is definitely one of the films to watch out for this year.

Directed by Ramkumar Balakrishnan, the film has Harish Kalyan and Indhuja playing the lead.

Others who play a significant role in the film include MS Bhaskar, Rama Rajendra, Prarthana Nathan, and Ilavarasu.

Parking boasts of a musical score by Sam CS and has cinematography by Jiju Sunny.

Philomin Raj edited the film and NK Rahul took care of the art direction.

Parking is a thriller drama that revolves around a young couple, who move into a new home. The troubles they face with another family that shares the building over parking issues is what the movie is all about.

Parking will be released on 1 December.

Annapoorani

One of the most looked-forward-to films of the year, Annapoorani is headlined by Nayanthara.

Directed by Nilesh Krishna, the film is scheduled for release on 1 December.

Annapoorani also stars Jai, Sathyaraj, Achyuth Kumar, KS Ravikumar, Redin Kingsly, Kumari Sachu, Renuka, Karthik Kumar, and Suresh Chakkaravarthy in pivotal roles.

The film has huge expectations as it has Nayanthara playing a chef and competing with male chefs.

Music for the film is by Thaman S and the cinematography is by Sathyan Sooryan

Fight Club

When director Lokesh Kanagaraj announced his production house G Squad, little did people know that he would be releasing his first film in a matter of a fortnight.

But that is exactly what has happened.

Directed by Abbas A Rahmath, Fight Club casts actor Vijay Kumar of Uriyadi (2016) fame in the lead. It is being presented by Lokesh Kanakaraj.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s G Squad presenting Fight Club raised expectations from the movie, which even otherwise had critics keenly watching it because of the presence of director and actor Vijay Kumar.

Sources say that the film, which is in its final stages of post-production, is likely to hit the theatres on 15 December.

Dhruva Natchathiram

The release of director Gautham Vasudev Menon’s much-awaited action entertainer, Dhruva Natchathiram is likely to happen in December this year.

It features actor Vikram in the lead role.

The film, which was originally scheduled to hit the screens on 24 November this year, was postponed after the makers could not pay off All In Pictures a sum of ₹2 crore before the deadline.

However, sources drop hints that the unit is making an effort to get the film released at the earliest and that there is a good possibility of the film getting released this December itself.
